Everybody needs a little time to rejuvenate, right? Even people working at their dream job undergo stress at some point in time. Putting in long hours in the office can decrease motivation and productivity. If you find yourself experiencing any of the signs below, it is time to research some vacation ideas and take some time off of work.

1) Sleep is a thing of the past

If you are having difficulty falling asleep, or wake up wide awake at 2:00 AM, these sleep issues can be the result of being overworked and stressed. They can also be a sign that work weighs so heavily on your mind that you are too focused and cannot relax or think about anything else except those expense reports waiting to be completed. Lack of sleep is obviously a hindrance on your overall health, so if you find yourself not sleeping because of work issues, it is definitely time to take a vacation.

2) Your personal life is falling apart

Are you missing family dinners, functions at your son or daughter’s school, or family engagements? This is a tell-tale sign that you need to reconnect with your family. What better way to do so than to take some time off of work and adventure out on a family trip?

3) You are making careless errors

If you notice yourself making more mistakes at work than ever before, this is an obvious sign that it is time to take a break, recharge your battery, and get back on track. Careless errors can happen when you are overworked, stressed, and tired, so do yourself a favor and take a vacation. You will be surprised at how focused you are when you return.

4) Work is becoming a chore

If you have trouble remembering the last time you were enthusiastic about your work, you are long overdue for a vacation. Dreading everyday work tasks that were once enjoyable could very well mean that you simply need a break.

5) Work is ALWAYS on your mind

Do you find yourself thinking and talking about work even when you are not at the office? Are your conversations being dominated about that project you need to complete, or all of the trainings you need to fit in within the next week? Work needs to be left at work, and when you are having trouble doing so, this is the perfect time to take a vacation.
